BNENE Conference Brings Together Educators and Administrators in Common Mission
July 14, 2017

Educators and administrators from four Basilian schools came together in their common mission to engage in their ongoing formation as Catholic educators and to promote Basilian education within their schools. Representatives from Catholic Central High School, Instituto de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, St. Michael’s College School, and St. Thomas High School gathered in Detroit, Michigan for the Basilian Network for Education and the New Evangelization (BNENE) conference held at Catholic Central from July 11-13.
Father Mario D’Souza, CSB, executive director of the BNENE committee, delivered the welcoming address and introduced the theme of this year’s conference, ‘the Religious Dimension of the Catholic School.’ The theme was explored through small group discussions that gave participants the opportunity to share what makes each of their schools Catholic.
The mission of BNENE is to promote the ongoing formation of school leaders, teachers, support staff and communities in the Basilian apostolate of Catholic education. Members of the BNENE committee include Fathers Mario D’Souza, CSB, Patrick Fulton, CSB, Jack Gallagher, CSB, John Huber, CSB, Terry Kersch, CSB, Don McLeod, CSB, Kevin Storey, CSB, and Jeff Thompson, CSB.
This conference followed up on the keynote address by Archbishop Michael Miller, CSB at the 2015 conference, which challenged Catholic educators to make evangelization the primary mission in their classrooms and schools.
