Kevin Mannara, CSB Professes Final Vows and Ordained to the Diaconate
April 24, 2017

As a Basilian moves through the process of initial formation, a key moment is the profession of final vows, when he makes a permanent commitment to the Congregation and the Church. The ordination to the diaconate usually follows close upon final profession; a Basilian is ordained to a ministry of service. Kevin Mannara, CSB celebrated these two moments in the Chapel of the Cardinal Flahiff Centre on April 21 and 22, 2017. The vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience were received by Fr. George Smith, CSB, superior general of the Congregation. Bishop Kasun, CSB presided at his first ordination as Kevin Mannara, CSB was called to the Order of Deacon. Among those in attendance was Kevin’s family who traveled from Rochester; Basilian scholastics who are currently studying in Houston, Texas; parishioners from Assumption Parish in Windsor, Ontario, where Kevin had been ministering; and Dr. Gerard J. Rooney, president of St. John Fisher College, and his wife Susan. Kevin will be ordained to the priesthood in August in Rochester, New York.
In an exclusive video interview, courtesy of Salt + Light Media, Fr. Rosica, CSB asks Kevin why he said yes to God, the Church, and the Basilians. Watch video.
