Kevin Mannara, CSB Shares Significance of Assumption Church in Heritage Matters
March 7, 2017

In a special MyOntario edition of Heritage Matters, Kevin Mannara, CSB explores how the term symbolkirchen, a symbol bearing church, applies to Assumption Church. Ontario Heritage Trust invited Ontarians to share stories about places, art and objects, music and poetry with special meaning to them and published some of these stories in its publication. In his article, ‘What was and what will be’, Kevin Mannara writes, “Assumption Church stood as a symbolkirchen not only for Assumption Catholic Parish, but for the city of Windsor, Ontario and for the Church in Ontario.” Assumption Church has been shuttered since November 2014 due to safety concerns and an inability to undertake expensive repairs.
