Fr. Jamie Abercrombie, CSB Receives Community Service Award

Fr. Jamie Abercrombie, CSB was honoured with a prestigious Community Service Leadership Award from the Fort Bend County Hispanic Heritage Forum for his work within the community as a Basilian. Fr. Abercrombie was one of five recipients recognized at the Forum’s third annual Community Leadership Award Banquet, held on Thursday, May 16 at the Rosenberg Civic Center in Rosenberg, Texas. Since its founding in 2005, the Forum has awarded over $175,000 in scholarships to Fort Bend County students.

Fr. Jamie’s first assignment was at Our Lady of Guadalupe parish in Rosenberg in 1974, where he faithfully served for many years. Now retired, Father Jamie continues to assist at various parishes in Rosenberg, Richmond, Beasley, Sugar Land, and Houston.

Among those there to celebrate were friends and family including Fr. Jamie’s sister, Lynn Gillespie, and his cousin, Win Haggard and wife Cathy; Fr. James Blocher, CSB; Fr. Lee Flores, pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church; and members of the parish.
