Basilians Gather in Rochester to Ordain Fr. Kevin Mannara, CSB
August 11, 2017

The Basilian Fathers welcomed their confrère, Father Kevin J.V. Mannara, CSB, into the priesthood. On August 5, 2017, The Most Reverend Ronald P. Fabbro, CSB, Bishop of London, Ontario, presided over the Mass of Ordination, held at St. Mary’s Church in Rochester, New York. Many members of the Basilian community were in attendance including Father Kevin’s Basilian confrères, friends, and family; Basilian Lay Associates; parishioners of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Parish, St. Basil’s Parish, St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, and St. Mary’s Church; and friends from St. John Fisher College, where Father Kevin will serve as Director of Campus Ministry.
The following day, on August 6, 2017, Father Mannara celebrated his first Mass at St. Mary’s Church. Father Thomas Rosica, CSB preached the homily, that recalled the words of Blessed Pope Paul VI on the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord.
Basilian associates took part in the celebration weekend. They gathered in Rochester from Wednesday, August 2 to Sunday, August 6, and had an opportunity to get to know one another and learn more about the Basilian Way of Life. These men in formation, along with the ordination of Fr. Mannara, bring a renewed energy to the Congregation.
