Basilian Life
Who We Serve
Our founders made it their special concern to serve the poor in their need for Christian education. We must do all we can to see that our schools do not exclude the poor, and in all of our apostolates that we do not compromise with any form of social injustice. We must be sensitive ourselves and ready to awaken the consciences of others to the drama of human misery and to the demands of social justice made by the Gospel and the Church.
At the heart of the Congregation of St. Basil is a commitment to improve circumstances for the less fortunate through service to the people of God. This commitment takes many ongoing forms in numerous geographic locales, most recently through our mission work in Latin America.
Although our mission is to educate and evangelize, our work within dioceses includes providing guidance, comfort and support to parishioners and non-parishioners alike in homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and of course the classroom. As we were taught by Jesus Christ, this commitment to service extends most notably to the poor, the marginalized and those in dire need of help, regardless of their station in life or past sins.
