Basilians Host Virtual Vocation Retreat
February 15, 2023

A recent virtual Basilian vocation retreat brought together participants from Canada, Maryland and Texas. The retreat was centered around the theme: what does God have prepared for you? Participants were asked to focus on 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 “What eye has not seen, and ear has not heard, and what has not entered the human heart, what God has prepared for those who love him, this God has revealed to us through the Spirit.”
In the first presentation, Father Dennis Noelke, CSB provided participants with the tools for discerning a vocation to the priesthood, religious life, married life or the single life. Then, Father Richard Wahl, CSB described how to discern a vocation to the priesthood. He highlighted the distinctions between religious and diocesan priests, while providing examples from his own experiences. Father Eduardo Rivera, CSB led the concluding discussion on discerning a vocation to the Basilian Fathers. He explained how Basilians live out their vocation to the priesthood and religious life through evangelization and teaching. He also outlined the different stages in Basilian formation process and answered any questions that the participants had. After each presentation, participants had the opportunity to reflect, pray, ask questions and talk with the larger group.
