2018 Synod of Bishops: Young People, the Faith and Vocational Discernment

From October 3-28, 2018 Catholic Bishops from around the world gathered in Rome for the 15th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on “Young People, the Faith and Vocational Discernment.”

This Synod included the voices of young people, who were invited to take part in the Synod of Bishops. For the first time in the history of the Synod of Bishops, young adults addressed the Synodal Assembly and took part in all small group discussions. Father Thomas Rosica, CSB, CEO of Salt and Light TV, was appointed by the Vatican to the Synod’s Commission for Information and worked closely with international media covering the Synod. Four young people who work at Salt and Light Television were named to the Synod. Two were appointed auditors by Pope Francis: Julian Paparella. graduate student from the Diocese of London and Emilie Callan, French language producer from Diocese of Cornwall. Two other Salt and Light staff were appointed to the Social Media Team of the Synod of Bishops: Prevain Devandran a graduate of St. Michael’s College School, a lawyer and current operations manager at Salt and Light TV; and Allyson Kenny, associate producer at Salt and Light TV.
