The Archdiocese of Mexico City has asked Fr. Beto Rojas, CSB, to serve as Administrator of St. Peter Martyr Parish in Tlalpan. Along with the three chapels already under his care, this new mission extends our Basilian presence to four more chapels — seven in total.

Amongst the Basilians, ‘Art’ Holmes (1930 – 1994, ordained 1957) is considered the best mathematics teacher the Congregation produced. Father Arthur taught all his priestly life at St Michael’s College School and St Charles College, Sudbury, finding a new ministry of healing and spiritual counsel working with Alcoholics Anonymous in the last decade of his life.

From their home in Schriever, they minister across 5 parishes—St. Andrew (Amelia), Annunziata (Houma), Christ the Redeemer (Thibodaux), Holy Savior (Lockport), and Sacred Heart (Cut Off). With #Masses, confessions, baptisms, and faith formation, their presence has already significantly increased parishioner participation. Let us pray for the people of Houma-Thibodaux, their new bishop Simon Peter Engurait, and our brothers in ministry. ✝️💒

With sadness, we share the passing of our confrere Fr. James Carruthers, CSB, born in Windsor, Ontario, and ordained in 1963. A devoted Basilian educator and scholar, he served in Canada, France, and the U.S., inspiring many through teaching and ministry.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Presentation Manor, Toronto, followed by burial at the Basilian Plot, Holy Cross Cemetery, Thornhill, Ontario.
